Specialized Expertise in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care

Reliable, Trustworthy, Experienced

You and your family may know the signs all too well. Your loved one tends to be forgetful … repeat questions or stories … wander or get lost … misplace or lose personal items … exhibit extreme mood swings … have trouble paying bills or completing other everyday tasks.

Symptoms like these could indicate your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia. Early on, you may be able to care for him or her in the home. As the disease progresses, however, doing so can soon become overwhelming. Eventually, most patients need much more intensive care than a layperson can deliver.

Cahoon Care is here to help, in the home or an assisted living facility, with specialized expertise in Alzheimer's and dementia care.

Reliable, Compassionate Alzheimer's and Dementia Home Care

Since opening our doors in 2010, we've cared for many clients with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

What we've learned — and what growing evidence has shown — is that taking part in mental, physical and social activities can enhance overall well-being.

By staying keenly attuned to his or her needs and interests, we design a customized care plan for each client. Activities may include:

  • Storytelling
  • Scrapbooking
  • Doing puzzles
  • Taking a pleasant walk
  • Going on a sightseeing drive
  • Visiting a seniors-oriented event.

If appropriate, we may also integrate music, pet, reiki, weighted blanket, and other alternative therapies. Ultimately, we strive to keep your loved one engaged in life while making every day as full and enjoyable as possible.

Skilled Caregivers with Alzheimer’s and Dementia Training

All of our caregivers and care managers complete extensive training with Alzheimer's and dementia care specialists (both in-house and through the Alzheimer's Association).

As a result, we can distinguish between the different types of Alzheimer's and dementia — knowledge that helps us optimize the treatment plan and daily interactions with your loved one.

Real People. Real Care.

"How can I ever find the words to adequately express my profound gratitude to you for the ways in which you took care of my mother?

You went so far beyond what was required of a caregiver. You treated her with respect and dignity. You were her friend and it showed. I know you would have done anything for her, and you did it quite often. On behalf of my entire family, thank you for helping us keep Mom safe and sound in her own home that she loved so much."
