Home Care – East Bridgewater, MA
East Bridgewater, situated in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, has a population of 14,440, as recorded in the 2020 census. It falls within Massachusetts' 8th congressional district.
The area now known as East Bridgewater was initially settled by Europeans in 1630 as an extension of the Plymouth and Duxbury plantations. It was part of Olde Bridgewater, with the "East Parish" established in 1723, until it officially separated and was incorporated on June 14, 1823.
Positioned along the northern section of the Taunton River, the town's early economy was predominantly agricultural. However, industrial development soon followed, with ironworks producing muskets and cannons for the Colonial armies during the American Revolution.
Residential expansion occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly along the community's rail and trolley lines. Notably, the infamous bank robber Jack Turner had a brother who owned a home in East Bridgewater during the mid-19th century. It is widely believed that Turner left his fortune there before being mistakenly shot by Union agents outside of Richmond, Virginia, in 1864. Today, East Bridgewater is primarily recognized as a residential community.
