Home Care – Kingston, MA

Kingston is a seaside town located in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 13,708 residents. Before the arrival of European settlers, the area now known as Kingston was inhabited by the Wampanoag people. Between 1616 and 1619, an epidemic severely reduced the Wampanoag population due to earlier interactions with Europeans. Several ancient Native American burial sites have been discovered within Kingston's limits.

Initially a part of Plymouth, Kingston saw its first European settlers shortly after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620, with a more established settlement forming in 1635. In 1675, several violent conflicts during King Philip's War are believed to have occurred within Kingston's territory. The home of Governor Bradford, which now falls within Kingston's boundaries, was attacked by Wampanoag fighters.

In 1685, Kingston became part of Plymouth County. For a brief period, from 1686 to 1689, it was included within the Dominion of New England. Kingston was officially designated Plymouth's northern precinct in 1717, establishing the First Parish Kingston, now a Unitarian Universalist church in the town's center. Kingston was incorporated as a separate town on June 16, 1726, following a tax-related disagreement between northern and southern Plymouth residents. The parish was considered the affluent section of Plymouth at the time. Kingston's boundaries were defined by carving out portions of neighboring towns Plymouth, Duxbury, Plympton, and Pembroke, all of which had been incorporated before Kingston.
